Simbang Gabi, which means "Night Mass or Evening Mass," is a novena, a devotional 9-day series of Masses attended by Filipino Catholics in anticipation of Christmas and to honor the Blessed Mother. It culminates on Christmas Eve with the midnight Mass.
Simbang Gabi can also be understood as an expression of our filial devotion to Mary, the Mother of God. The 9 Masses represent the 9-month stay of the Infant Jesus in the womb of our Lady leading up to Christmas, and so, we join or accompany her, so to speak, as she awaits the birth of her Son.
This is the second year that Simbang Gabi will be celebrated in Ste. Anne’s church. This is an opportune time for the Filipino communities within the Archdiocese of Boston and beyond to come together for a spiritual preparation for Christmas. More than just a popular tradition, Simbang Gabi is an occasion to evangelize and deepen one’s faith, build our communities, celebrate fellowship among other communities of different cultures, pray together, reach out to friends, re-live and share memories, impart to our young our culture and religious heritage, and above all, be ulimately blessed by our God.
Please join us on December 15th-23rd. The Masses will start at 7PM. We will be praying the Rosary beginning at 6:30PM followed by a few prelude songs. A simple food sharing will be right after the Mass every night as part of the tradition. On the 23rd, there will be a potluck celebration in the Parish
Center with some Christmas carol songs and celebration. Everyone is welcome! For more information, please contact: Melvin Ambas @ 571-331-7646 (cell) or Lourdelyn Valsote @
