The Priestly Ordination of Rev. John Tanyi by His Eminence Séan Patrick Cardinal O’Malley, O.M.F, Cap., Archbishop of Boston will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 10AM at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, located at 1400 Washington Street in Boston. We shall take some pictures with the newly ordained Priest after the ordination mass. Later that Saturday evening, there will be a small dinner reception, for family and friends attending the ordination from out-of-state, at the Ste. Anne’s Parish Hall, Lower Hall, from 6-10PM.
Rev. John Tanyi will celebrate his First Mass as a Priest of the Archdiocese of Boston on Sunday, May 26th at Ste. Anne’s at 10AM. This will be the only mass for that Sunday so that all parishioners can worship together, including the Cameroon, Filipino, and Congolese communities. All communities will have an important role to play during the liturgy. Arrangements have been made for the mass to recorded by Salem Access Television. A few pictures will be taken after mass followed by a reception for all parishioners in the Parish Hall, Upper Hall.
Throughout the ordination weekend, there will be a launch and signing of Deacon John’s new book titled “The Cross and Flag: Papal Diplomacy and John Paul II’s Struggle Against the Tyranny of the Possible.” Make sure you get a signed copy from the author.
The Priestly Ordination Planning Committee has been meeting weekly since Palm Sunday to ensure the success of events during the ordination weekend. An Ordination Fund has been set up to collect donations to support the organization of the events surrounding Deacon John's ordination and First Mass. The Planning Committee has come out with a budget of about $6,000. Money raised will be reported in the weekly bulletin and used to buy gifts for Deacon John and to organize the event (i.e., water, drinks, food, souvenirs, photographer, videographer, a DJ, police detail, etc.). We thank all those who have already made contributions in cash or in kind. For planning purposes, if you prefer to buy a gift or sponsor any item on the planning list, contact Fr. Augustin or the rectory at 978.744.1940 and they will connect you with a Planning Committee member for additional details. You can also provide support by joining one of the many working groups within the Planning Committee including liturgy, programing, gifts and souvenirs, food, drinks, logistics, parking, security, publicity, etc.
Please join us on this very special day of ordination and the First Mass of Rev. John Tanyi. As a parish we continue to pray for Deacon John as he prepares to enter into the Sacred Priesthood and begin his life of service to the people of God.
The Planning Committee needs your help to organize the events successfully. We count on your generous donations in cash or in kind to organize the events surrounding the ordination and the First Mass Celebration.
May God bless you abundantly,
Hilary Aroke & Cornelius Bela
(Co-Chairs of the Priestly Ordination Planning Committee)
